What better way to make your wedding historical than by having it inside a piece of history?

Originally built as a Presbyterian Church in 1875, the Wedding Chapel of Elizabeth was a haven for weary travelers on the Mail Trace, a stagecoach path running through Illinois. People heading to Galena, Dixon, Fort Dearborn (what is now known as Chicago), or Fort Clark (now Peoria) could stop and rest at this beautiful country church. Because of its location along the path, ceremonies of all kinds were conducted inside its white-washed walls.

For the past 125 years, the church has withstood the test of time, and has seen the nearby town of Galena, Illinois grow into a popular weekend getaway spot. Yet, through it all, the church has retained its unique historical character and charm. Several years ago, the church was purchased and meticulously restored to its original glory. Not only was every inch lovingly preserved-- including the original stained glass windows-- but the present owners even restored the original steeple. One of the church's unique amenities is a turn of the century piano inlaid with mother-of-pearl, which is impeccably maintained for your musician's use.

Full of history, love, and attention to detail, your special day deserves a setting like the Wedding Chapel of Elizabeth.
